Shaping the Transition

Our gathering on March 26th at Tolhuistuin explored societal transitions, economic redesign, and the futures we are already living through, bringing together thinkers, practitioners, and a comedian who captured something the keynotes couldn't, what it actually feels like to be in the middle of all this.

  • Director of DRIFT

Unpacked where we actually stand in the transition, and what this moment asks of organisations and leaders

  • Co-founder of True Price Foundation, Impact Institute and Resilt

Explored how redesigning economies from the inside out changes what sustainable business can become

  • Futurist and co-founder, Rogue Union

Led a live futures simulation that placed participants inside a transition scenario, navigating real decisions in real time

  • Sustainability Lead and Author

Captured with sharp comedy what it actually feels like to work in sustainability and try to change the world

On March 26th, Tolhuistuin hosted the third Futures & Sustainability gathering, an evening on societal transitions, living systems, and what it takes to shape what comes next. Anna Krotova opened with comedy that had the room laughing out loud, capturing with sharp wit what it actually feels like to work in sustainability and try to change the world. Derk Loorbach and Michel Scholte then took the floor together in a moderated dialogue, connecting transition theory to economic redesign and the question of what future-fit business can look like in practice. After a break for informal exchange, Krizna Gomez led participants through a live futures simulation, placing them inside a transition scenario and inviting them to navigate decisions, trade-offs, and possibilities together.

The evening reminded us that transitions are not abstract, they are lived, contested, and shaped by the choices we make now.
